The Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) has launched a traffic fine discount program that allows drivers to settle their debts by paying only 10% of the total amount.
90% discount on selected fines According to information shared by the agency on social media, the benefit applies to violations issued between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2025.
The program will be in effect until April 30, 2026, and is part of a strategy to encourage compliance and reduce payment backlogs.
Who can access it? The scheme is aimed at vehicle owners as well as individual transport service concessionaires, including taxi drivers.
Authorities detailed that the objective is to facilitate the settlement of debts through an accessible and simplified mechanism.
Cases where the discount does not apply The discount will not be valid for violations related to traffic incidents that left people injured, those linked to the commission of a crime, or for invading exclusive public transport lanes.
The agency also recommended verifying the status of fines and making payments through official channels to avoid fraud or intermediaries.
These restrictions aim to maintain sanctions for behaviors considered higher risk or high-impact.
